As some of you will already be aware it is with great regret that we have to inform you of the untimely death on Sunday 7th December 2014 of our President, Peter Rawlinson after a short illness.
Peter joined the Club in the mid 1960’s from Castle Hedingham and first joined the committee as Treasurer in 1969.
He was a popular Second Eleven captain for several years in the 1970’s and early 80’s and became Chairman in 1982 a position he held until 1990.
Peter succeeded John Reynolds as President in 1995 and he has been a tremendous ambassador for the Club.
He had also just completed his term of office as President of the Gents of Essex Cricket Club.
His presence at Star Stile will be sorely missed and our condolences go out to Sue, David, Claire and their respective families.
There will be a private family funeral before Christmas.
A Memorial Service, which all are welcome to attend, will be held at St Andrew’s Church, Halstead on Tuesday 30th December 2014 starting at 11.00am.
In accordance with the Club’s Constitution we are required to call an Extraordinary General Meeting to elect a new President and also to appoint a replacement for Peter as a trustee (Brian Firmin and Michael Smith are the other two current serving Trustees).
This meeting will be held at in the pavilion at Star Stile on Wednesday 4th February 2015 starting at 7.30pm
Nominations for the position of President and the Trustee (they do not necessarily have to be the same person) are therefore invited and will require a proposer and seconder and should be lodged in writing with the Hon.Secretary, Neil Morris no later than Friday 23rd January.
