Match report Adam Morris opened his captaincy account in the North Essex Cricket League Divison Three with a 41-run victory over Kirby.

The 22-year old skippered a side with only three players over the age of 23, setting the example with a well-composed 66, which alongside brother Joe’s 49, they put on 86 for the second wicket.

Some quick runs were added later in the innings by Larvet Masunda (31) and Callum Hansey (25) as the hosts were bowled out in the 40th over for 215.

Nigel Mann took 4-34 on Kirby debut, with Dougie Gardner and Tom Higgins claiming two wickets apiece.

Adam Cuthbert (54) and Elliott Mann (14) were watchful against some tight Halstead bowling, adding 49 for the first wicket.

Charles Mallett (2-29) took his first two senior wickets in his first bowling spell outside of the Colts set-up, with Sam Hawes also bowling his first overs in a senior league game.

Leg-spinner Liam Jones (2-42) returned at the end of the innings, dismissing Keiron Parkes after his quickfire 40, Kirby falling 41-runs short.
