Halstead Cricket Club Won by 79 runs

Match report HCC III - 221-5 - beat Dunmow II - 142 all out - by 79 runs

The third eleven preserved their 100% record in Division Eight, making it back-to-back victories over the league leaders, running out 79 run victors over Dunmow IIs.

Gary Dicker (1) was bowled early on by Louis Smyth (1-50), but Mark Surridge (37) and Taylor Nicholson (25) added 63 runs for the second wicket.

Dunmow legspinner Rohan Aswani (2-35) broke the stand, Nicholson being caught by Ryan Johnson with the score at 71.

Halstead lost a further two quick wickets as Surridge fell to Marin Callingham - Aswani taking the catch - and stand-in skipper Sam Hawes (0) was caught at point by Cameron Gibson off Aswani.

Simon Rippingale (46) and Matt Cooper (59*) put on 106 for the fifth wicket, running well between the wickets before opener Jamie McLaughlin (1-54) returned to dismiss Rippingale, Callingham taking the catch at cover.

Charles Mallett (23*) joined Cooper as the latter completed a deserved half-century, finishing with 59 not out from 48 balls as Halstead set Dunmow 222 for victory.

Luke Robinson (3-16) - making his first appearance of 2018 - and Sam Johnson (1-26) took the new ball, the former reducing Dunmow to 30-2, bowling McLaughlin (0) and taking a sharp return catch to dismiss Ieuan Bush (10).

Robinson then took a catach Callum Hansey (1-33) to dismiss Ryan Johnson (29) prior to Sam Johnson getting rid of Matt Takle (5) thanks to a sharp leg-side catch from wicket-keeper Dicker.

Alex Rippingale (1-23) had Cooper Baker (18) caught courtesy of a fine Charles Mallett catch underneath a high ball, Rippingale taking a catch off Mark Surridge to account for Aswani (18).

Simon Rippingale's catch then gave Taylor Nicholson his seventh scalp of the season, young Dunmow batsman Cameron Gibson (29) having put together a strong knock in the middle order.

Two more wickets for Surridge - Alex Rix (12) was bowled and Martin Callingham (12) caught by Johnson - and a third for Robinson - bowling Smyth (0) - meant Halstead ended comfortable victors.
