Halstead Cricket Club Sunday T20 XI v Kelvedon & Feering on Sun 23 Jun 2019 at 14:00
Halstead Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Halstead - 132-2 - beat Kelvedon & Feering - 131-6 - by 8 wickets

There was a bright spot for the weekend with Callum Hansey's T20 side making it three wins from three with a comfortable eight wicket victory over Kelvedon & Feering.

The visitors won the toss and batted first, with Eddie King (55) dominating a 61-run opening stand with Phil Tompkins (9) as Halstead openers Joe Morris and Josh King (0-28) went wicketless.

Eddie King was dropped twice, once of his namesake Josh and again off Lewis Brennan, but passed his 50 in 36 balls shortly before Tompkins edged Hansey (2-26) behind to Ryan Vickery to give Halstead their first wicket.

King hit 6 fours and 2 sixes but was found wanting as he attempted to scoop Brennan (1-19) and was comprehensively bowled, Richard Nunn (9) joining Dan Wheeler (27) at the crease.

Wheeler and Nunn got Kelvedon over the 100-run mark, the former hitting Hansey over the road for six, however when attempting to clear the ropes again he could only pick out Joe Morris at long-on to give the skipper his second wicket.

Nunn followed soon after as Morgan Whymark (1-7) bowled a tight two over spell, causing the Kelvedon man to play onto his own stumps to be bowled and when Jeremy King (1) was run out by a good throw from Liam Jones and smart work from keeper Vickery, Kelvedon were left at 114-5.

Josh Parsons (11), Ryan Sleet (9*) and Reece Dolman (0*) helped the visitors through to 131-6, the former bowled by Joe Morris (1-23) in the final over.

Vickery (85*) and King (25) opened for Halstead and soon put on a 65-run stand courtesy of good running and punishment of the bad deliveries, the pair scoring at similar rates before Nunn (2-26) encouraged King to edge behind to Parsons.

Vickery and Liam Jones (4) then added 36 for the second wicket, with the wicketkeeper-batsman passing 50 on Halstead debut prior to Nunn bowling Jones in the 14th over.

Charles Mallett (10*) and Vickery would look untroubled as they eased home with 15 balls to spare, Vickery ending on an impressive 85 not out off 64 deliveries.
