Match report ‘The spirit of cricket’ was evident at Clay Hall Farm….

After late withdrawals Halstead 3rd X1 found themselves with just seven players on Saturday but rather than concede and deny Ipswich 3rd X1 a game they travelled to Clay Hall Farm and fulfilled the fixture. The Ipswich captain Dougie Fairbanks was embarrassed to win the toss and subject the visitors to a long afternoon in the field - one keeping wicket, one bowling and five fielders ! But the Ipswich captain immediately offered two substitute fielders, which meant that his team had then two batting, two padded up, two scoring and two umpiring and two fielding for Halstead. And a most enjoyable game was enjoyed by both teams.

On behalf of Halstead CC a big thanks to the third team players of Ipswich Cricket Club yesterday for their exemplary sportsmanship in providing us with two sub fielders all afternoon and allowing us to play an enjoyable game of cricket at Clay Hall Farm
