Match report Halstead fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of a Haverhill side featuring ex-Halstead man, Amit Gupta.

With late injuries to Ian Pont and skipper Charlie Douglas-Hughes, the side was depleted from the one that beat Ipswich the previous week.

Haverhill scored quickly from the off, as Adam Dellar (35) and Bill Moran (17) opened up. They approached fifty, before three wickets fell for under twenty runs. Moran and Kyle Blanchard (4) both fell to Justin Rose, whilst Freddie Preston claimed the scalp of Dellar.

This brought together Gupta (82) and Luke Youngs (44), and Gupta rapidly went through the gears, scoring very quickly. The pair had a hundred partnership, with Gupta looking set for a tonne before he holed out to Digby Harding on the boundary off of Dean Feneysey. A smart catch from Andy Charlton off of Feneysey accounted for Nigel Brunning (0).

Hadleigh moved past 200 and on to a final total of 272-8. Robert harris dismissing Luke Youngs, whilst Tristan Blackledge took two wickets on his first team debut. Dan Poole meanwhile made a quick fire 61 not out.

Halstead's reply started terribly, they fell to 22-4 as Neale Dakin (0), Rose (11), Charlton (0) and Preston (8) were all dismissed. Mark Johnson (82), who stood in as captain on the day, was a bastion of resistance. He was part of good partnerships with Blackledge (12), Harding (29) and Harris (11), helping his side up to 175 before being dismissed. Halstead were all out for 181, with wickets shared around the Haverhill attack. Gupta in particular coming out on top on his return to the club.
