Match report Halstead were comfortably beaten at home to Witham on Saturday. They lost the toss and were asked to bat first.

Despite getting off to a good start, Tom Peacock (19) and Charlie Douglas-Hughes (22) adding 33 for the first wicket, they endured a collapse. From this position they were reduced to 56-5. Cody McDonald taking three wickets in the process. Chris Rayner (24) and Digby Harding (27) put Halstead through a period of rebuilding. Their partnership was worth a valuable 52 when Rayner was dismissed. Harding fell soon after and Halstead collapsed again, losing their last five wickets for just 11 runs, as Witham bowled them out for 119. McDonald the pick of the bowlers with 4-24.

E Suett (50 n. o.) and Hawes (21) got Witham's reply off to a flyer, a fifty partnership between the openers quickly taking the game away from Halstead. Though when Hawes was run out, the left arm spin of David Elsbury took over. He claimed three scalps, but Green (20) and Suett seemed to do enough, and Witham reached their target inside 33 overs.

Halstead travel to Elmstead next week for a crunch bottom of the table clash.
