Match report
Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship
Division One
Halstead 152 lost to
Wivenhoe 225-4 by 73 runs
Halstead were drawn back into the relegation zone after defeat at Wivenhoe on Saturday. With both Elmstead and Ipswich winning, things tightened at the bottom of Division One.
Wivenhoe batted first, with both openers getting off to solid starts. Matt Durrell (42) and Oliver Morgan (40) flourishing in the sun. Robert Harris (2-31) bowled his usual economic spell, as he picked up the wickets of the pair, both being caught.
Michael Condy (78no) continued the good work, with Joe Fowler (37) playing a supporting role, as Halstead found wickets hard to come by. Ryan Savill (4) was trapped lbw by Digby Harding, prior to Joe Morris capturing Fowler, as Wivenhoe closed on 225-4.
Halstead lost their early wickets quickly, Paul Harris (5) and Tom Peacock (10) both falling to Tom Durrell before the scores reached 20.
Mark Johnson (12), Freddie Preston (31) and Nick Phillips (38) ticked the score along, but the required rate kept going up.
Preston and Phillips added 53 for the fifth wicket, but only Harding (40) contributed in the tail as Halstead were dismissed for 152.
