Halstead Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI v High Easter on Sun 26 May 2013 at 13.00
Halstead Cricket Club Won by 106 runs
Match report
A big crowd in the marquee were treated to a feast of runs on Sunday as Halstead extended their winning Piri Piri competitions run to four games.
High Easter were the opponents and had Halstead in a tricky position of 36-2 early on. Goush Raviendran (26) scoring the majority of those runs. Mark Johnson (23) and then Freddie Preston (21) helped to tick the score along, though they mainly gave the strike to Josh Wells (135), who played an imperious innings. He put on nearly fifty with Johnson and over fifty with Preston.
Next in came Digby Harding (67 n.o.), who continued in the same vein as Wells. They added 94 runs for the sixth wicket. Wells had scored 18 boundaries in his knock before getting caught going for a nineteenth. Halstead managed to reach 300 runs for the first time since a home match against Easton three years earlier.
High Easter started off well in reply as Haris Mahmood (72) and Ben Gold (18) scored well, if a little slowly. Ben Morris got the breakthrough, Golds holing out in the deep. Harding then bowled Fahran Mahmood (11) before a superb spell from Callum Hansey took the game away from High Easter. He claimed three wickets for just twelve runs in seven overs.
Goush Raviendran then took two wickets in the closing stages and a great piece of work form Hansey secured a run out as High Easter finished on 202-8, to give Halstead a 106 run victory.
