Match report Halstead travelled to Friars Street on Sunday for a friendly against local rivals Sudbury. Both teams fielded plenty of Colts and used the game as a way of ensuring their introduction to senior cricket continued.

Halstead were asked to bat first. Mark Surridge (48) anchored the innings at the top of the order, scoring quickly early on as he was supported by the Morris brothers, Ben (10) and Joe (16). Charlie Douglas-Hughes (62) then assumed the role of run scorer, with only Digby Harding (10) also reaching double figures. Halstead youngster's did their job and occupied the crease, before scoring a few runs quickly at the end to close on 198 all out.

Sudbury's reply got off to a blistering start with Cooney (16) plundering 16 runs from the first Hansey over, but Sam Walter at the other end dismissed both openers inside four overs as Halstead regained some control. Elsey (29) played a very composed innings as he looked to stick out the overs, and when joined by Poole (73) the pair pushed the game on, making Sudbury the favourites. Joe Morris claimed both of their wickets, as it swung back in Halstead's favour. Peter Siegert (15) resisted well at the end, but the spin of Harding and Douglas-Hughes ran through the tail, to give Halstead a thirty run victory, on a day where all four results were at times looking possible.
