Match report Gary Dicker's reign as 2nd XI captain - the wicket keeper took over from Mark Johnson this week due to Johnson's continued involvement with the first team squad - began with a 7 wicket victory at Brightlingsea.

The hosts batted first and a tight spell from 17 year old Luke Robinson (1-14 off of 8) and 16 year old Lewis Brennan (0-11 off 7) made things difficult for the openers.

Justin Rose (3-35) and Ian Pont (2-22) worked their way through the middle order, with J. Barry's 40 the biggest resistance, but he fell when Robinson returned for his second spell. Mark Harris (2-26) and Liam Jones (1-24) took the last wickets to fall as the hosts closed on 147-9.

Pont scored a quick fire 37 at the top of Halstead's reply, before being bowled by Dowman (2-41), the same fate that befell Rose (14).

It was left to David Baalham (26*) and Cath Dalton (58*) to see out the chase, with the 2s winning by 7 wickets.
