Match report HCC II - 239-5 - beat Mildenhall III - 182-9 - by 57 runs

The Second Eleven made it two from two for the first time in two years with a comfortable victory over Mildenhall III at Star Stile.

Neale Dakin (96) and Graham Wickes (61) put on 169 for the first wicket to set-up a competitive total, with Adam Morris (24*), Justin Rose (15) and David Baalham (12*) helping the hosts to 239-5 from their 45 overs.

Dakin fell agonizingly short of a maiden century for the year, but has now scored 177 runs in the past two games, the return to form coinciding with Halstead's long awaited victories.

Kiefer Renouf (3-77) and Matthew Heywood (2-77) took the wickets for Mildenhall.

Aaron Read (2-52) and Rob Harris (1-32) had successes early on as Tom Heywood (3), Mark Thurston (7) and Renouf (12) fell to leave the visitors at 43-3.

Andrew Clark had an excellent day behind the stumps, taking three catches and a stumping as Justin Rose ripped through the Mildenhall middle-order after Jordan Francis' patient 39.

Luke Turner (54) made a quickfire half-century, but the visitors never looked like troubling the Halstead total, Mark Harris (1-41) and Liam Jones (1-27) taking a wicket apiece as Mildenhall eventually closed on 182-9, 57 runs short of their target.

Andy Rose will return to take the side to their Wivenhoe counterparts next week, hoping to emulate the 1st XI's heroics there this weekend.
