Sudbury III v Halstead Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 14 Jul 2018 at 13:00
Halstead Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
Halstead III - 125-2 - beat Sudbury III - 121 all out - by 8 wickets
The Third XI lifted themselves to the top of Division Eight for the first time this season with an 8 wicket victory over Sudbury III.
Avenging their friendly defeat of a fortnight prior, Mark Harris ran through the Sudbury side, claiming season best figures of 6-14.
Sudbury skipper Toby Butcher (45) and Allan MacDiarmid (21) provided some resistance, but the off-spinner accounted for both of them.
Andrew Jones (1-25), Morgan Whymark (1-24), Luke Robinson (1-26) and Barrie Morris (1-0) took the other wickets as the hosts were bowled out for 121.
Mark Surridge (32) and Mark Bloomfield (62*) put on 74 for the first Halstead wicket - the highest opening stand in the 3rd XI this campaign - before the former was bowled by Guy Robins (2-17).
A brief injection of quick scoring came in the form of Goush Raviendran (16) but he too was bowled by Robins, leaving Gary Dicker (2*) to see Halstead through to victory and Bloomfield to his first half-century of the year.
Eye and District have pulled out of Division Eight, leaving Halstead without a game this Saturday.
