The only bright spot in a disappointing day for the 3rd XI was the presence of five Junior members in the side that lost heavily at Abberton, all making contributions.

Sam Hume (6) and James Tyson (12) contributed with the bat, Nathan Smith took a catch and Matthew Tyson (1-34) and Shair Sullaman (2-45) took wickets.

Abberton batted first and amassed 312, with Daniel Guy (75), Kevin Grant (72) and David Booker (41*) the chief run-scorers, assisted by 58 extras. Danny Lynn (1-45) and Mark Bloomfield (2-88) were the other wicket takers.

Lynn (24) top-scored in the reply, with Bloomfield (17), Joe Doherty (14) and David Rawlinson (11) the only others to reach double figures as Halstead were soundly beaten.
