Match report Halstead - 238-4 - beat Galleywood - 95 all out - by 143 runs

Halstead's inaugural T20 match in the NECL T20 West Division ended in a 143-run victory over Galleywood.

Josh Ruthven (10) and Josh King (32) put on 47 for the first wicket, but Sam Adams (1-24) dismissed the former, Mahi Ahmed taking a hard catch at midwicket.

King departed with the scores on 52 when he miscued a Tim Dethridge (1-35) delivery to Tom Nurcombe at mid-off, but Josh Wells (84*) and Chris Huntington (78) put on 169 for the third wicket.

Huntington was eventually bowled by Zak Hicks (1-52) but hit seven fours and seven sixes in his 36-ball 78.

Charles Mallett (13) hit two boundaries but was bowled by Duncan Walton (1-64), heaving Adam Morris (2*) and Josh Wells to see out the innings. Wells hit 11 fours and three sixes in his 39-ball 84.

Galleywood got off to a flyer in reply as Tom Nurcombe (28) and Tim Dethridge (30) made the most of some lax Halstead bowling to put on 47 in four overs.

Skipper Callum Hansey (1-21) bowled Dethridge and from then on Halstead were in control. Josh King (2-16) and Lewis Brennan (2-7) took two wickets apiece, the latter swinging the orange County ball prodigiously to profound effect.

Josh Ruthven (2-5) took two wickets and Charles Mallett (1-8) one, the latter courtesy of a wonderful, one-handed grab from Sam Walter before Whymark (1-27) returned to take the final wicket.
