Match report Halstead IIs search for a first win of the season continues after a 59-run defeat at the hands of Coggeshall on Saturday.

Chris Dingley's 61 laid the platform for the hosts' innings, with seven other batsmen reaching double-figures in a total of 234-7 from their 40 overs. Chris Roper (3-36) and Luke Robinson (3-60) were the pick of the Halstead bowlers, but run-scoring was relatively easy for Coggeshall at both the top and end of the innings as the visitors struggled to put the squeeze on.

After a solid start from David Denny (23) and Jake Manning (25), a flurry of wickets reduced Coggeshall from 47-0 to 52-3, but Dingley and first Ollie Blackwell (22) and then Callum Lewis (36) rebuilt. Adam Robinson (23*), Craig Lesiak (16) and Rory Miller (13*) kept the score ticking over to reach 234-7.

Halstead began their reply well, Matt Cooper (31) and Adam Morris (23) adding 61 for the first wicket, but the introduction of Mark Butler (5-28) caused the runs to dry up. Morris was caught after top-edging the off-spinner, whilst Cooper, Liam Jones (13), Charles Mallett (3) and Mark Johnson (16) were all bowled to give the Coggeshall man an economical 5-wicket haul.

Luke Robinson (28), Justin Rose (10) and Callum Hansey (13) all fell trying to push the score along, but the required rate kept climbing and Halstead ended 59-runs short.
