With both Halstead and Sudbury seeing their league opposition conceding, a friendly was organised at Lavenham on Saturday.

A second 100-run 5th wicket stand of the season from Matt Cooper (84) and Simon Rippingale (65) set-up the Halstead innings, finishing on 214-8 from their 40 overs.

David Rawlinson (18) was the only other Halstead batsman to reach double-figures as Alan Macdiarmid (2-15), Charles Thomas (2-39), Lucy Amos (1-24), James Wuin (1-32) and Phil Halliday (1-46) took the wickets for Sudbury.

Morgan Whymark (2-43) took the wicket of Willie Amos (4) in the first over, but Louis Brooks (84) was aggressive from the start, taking advantage of the quick outfield and ten Halstead fielders.

Christopher Cook (14) top edged a Mark Bloomfield (1-55) ball to Sam Hawes and Matt Cooper caught and bowled James Quin (0), but Sudbury skipper Toby Butcher (58*) and Brooks took the game away from Halstead.

The pair put on a century stand that was broken by Whymark in his second spell, bowling Brooks for 84.

Allan MacDiarmid (20*) and Butcher saw Sudbury home with 7 overs to spare. Halstead return to Lavenham in a fornight for the league fixture between the two.
