Match report Despite an early collapse, a long enforced rain break and a very different pitch afterwards, Halstead admirably made 123-9 off their 45 overs. Even using up the overs seemed hugely unlikely as they slumped to 19-5. Though rebuilding work from Justin Rose, Andy Rose, debutant Rory Simpson and Simon Chinnery took the side through the overs.

With light fading fast, Needham initially tried to score quickly of Halstead's quicker bowlers, with Justin Rose getting a very early breakthrough. Needham ticked along fairly comfortably, mixing in with some luck as shots flashed past fielders, though when the slow bowling of Simpson and Ian Pont came on, it was a very different story. Wickets fell consistently, but chasing only 123 with wickets in hand was easily achieved with plenty of overs spare.
