Halstead Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI v Nowton on Sat 01 Jun 2013 at 13.00
Halstead Cricket Club Lost by 193 runs
Match report
Halstead were comfortably beaten at home to Nowton, as their opponents made it seven wins from seven in Division Eight West.
Their opponents always looked strong, with Kretzmann (124) and Reynolds (49) putting on 142 for the first wicket. This was despite tight opening spells from Andy Rose and Callum Hansey, which kept scoring to a minimum.
Wickets were hard to come by, but Halstead did not help their own cause. Lax bowling contributed a huge 56 extras to the total. Mark Harris thought he had Kretzmann trapped lbw before making fifty, but he survived and went on to score a near chanceless 100.
Alex Rippingale claimed two quick scalps, but Kretzmann continued to punish the continued short balls he faced, and despite a late burst of three wickets from Ben Morris and one apiece for Harris and Rose, Nowton closed on an imposing 274-7.
Halstead were never up with the rate in reply. Tight bowling from Nowton kept the runs down, whilst taking frequent wickets. Only three Halstead players made double figures, Morris (24) top scoring, whilst Nowton conceded nearly 50 less extras.
Halstead were bowled out for 81, Reynolds claiming 5-27 .
