Match report Despite the inclement weather, Halstead were able to cap off their season with a 7 wicket victory over second placed Wivenhoe at Star Stile.

Winning their last four completed games meant Josh Wells' men finished in 8th position in the table, with eight wins, ten defeats and four no results.

The game was reduced to 30 overs per side, with Wivenhoe batting first.

Joe Morris got in the act quickly, dismissing both Australian Jonty Rushton and Ryan Vickery for ducks.

Elliott (17) scored at better than a run a ball, but he was caught behind by Larvet Masunda off Harry Veal.

Matt Durrell was watchful for an unbeaten half century, but Morris took his third wicket, bowling Harry Burnett (7) to finish with figures of 3-12 from 5.

Morris then caught Morgan (6) off Dave Elsbury before Haines (23) helped add 30 for the 6th wicket until he was bowled by Wells.

Freddie Statham got in the act, picking up the wickets of Butcher (12) and Nicholls (7) as Wivenhoe closed on 135-8.

Halstead only lost three wickets in their reply, but the first was an early one as Neale Dakin (5) was caught by Matt Durrell off Rushton.

Charlie Douglas-Hughes (27) was joined by Masunda, the Zimbabwean letting the former 1st XI skipper do most of the scoring.

Douglas-Hughes hit 5 fours in his innings but was caught by Elliott off Butcher, with Chris Rayner (4) soon following suit to give Burnett a wicket and leave the hosts at 58-3.

Wells came to the crease alongside Masunda and the pair set about the 77 needed for victory.

The cover drive was the shot of choice for Halstead's skipper as he raced to fifty, closing on 60 not out, Masunda at the other end on 36 not out.
