Match report regular second eleven skipper Mark Johnson pressed into first team duty, Catherine Dalton took the helm of the 2nd XI for the first time, running out 6 wicket winners over Brockley.

Losing the toss and being put in the field, Halstead took an early wicket through Luke Robinson (1-10) as Stuart Fisher miscued and was caught by Gary Dicker – the first of the gloveman’s four dismissals.

Four of the Brockley top five got starts, Ben Jeffrey (33) and Stuart Hill (30) top scoring, but none kicked on to a half-century.

Steady bowling from Ian Pont (1-13), Mark Harris (2-31) and Liam Jones (1-49) kept Brockley in check.

It would be Mark Surridge who did the most damage, the veteran all-rounder taking 5-17 off 5.4 overs, to reduce the visitors from 130-5 to 147 all out.

Pont (59) scored a quickfire fifty alongside Dalton (25) as the pair added 51 for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed by McGann.

Dicker (7), Justin Rose (1) and Pont fell, but Andy Rose (38*) and Surridge (11*) marshalled the hosts home to a 6 wicket victory, putting them joint top of Division Three.
