Wivenhoe II v Halstead Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 16 Jun 2018 at 13:00
Halstead Cricket Club Won by 148 runs
Match report
Neale Dakin continued his stellar form with the bat, hitting 168 as the Second Eleven made it three wins on the spin at Wivenhoe on Saturday.
Dakin hit 23 fours and a six as he smashed 168 from 138 balls, taking his run tally to 388 for the season.
He was ably supported by Graham Wickes (36) and Mark Johnson (52) as Andy Rose’s side scored freely.
R. Evers (4-91) and B. Richard (2-61) took the Wivenhoe wickets, but couldn’t stem the flow of runs, going at 6.07 and 7.96 an over respectively.
Aaron Read (4-25) and Rob Harris (0-12) never allowed Wivenhoe to make a go of the chase, the latter’s first five overs were all maidens as the hosts were 9-2 after 10 overs.
Andrew Clark had two dismissals behind the stumps on return to his former side, who fell to 54-5 after 22 overs.
W. Morgan (31) showed the reisstance early on, but A. Green (46) and O. Morgan (33) put together a frustrating near 100 run 6th wicket partnership.
Sam Walter (4-60) proved to be the breaker of this, on his way to four wickets, with Mark Johnson running out Green and trapping Sparling lbw to finish off the Wivenhoe innings.
