Neale Dakin continued his stellar form with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 146 as the Second XI ran out comfortable winners at Maldon.

Dakin and Graham Wickes (69) put on 155 for the opening wicket as the visitors won the toss and batted first, piling on the runs after a steady start.

Wickes punished anything short of a length in a pugnacious half-century that included 12 fours and a six, whilst Dakin continued to look imperious, hitting 25 fours in his third century of the season.

Ben Belfrage (1-93) and Jack Riley (1-74) took the brunt of the onslaught until Kritik Patel (1-42) bowled Wickes.

Belfrage bowled Andrew Clark (7) soon after, but Chris Rayner (38) added 79 for the third wicket with Dakin as the latter passed three figures.

Rayner was bowled by Riley, with Justin Rose (12*) and Dakins seeing Halstead post a challenging 287-3 from their 45 overs.

Maldon's reply had some solid partnerships, the first three wickets being worth 33, 37 and 35 respectively, but aside from Ross Walpole (52) and Matthew Shinn (36), no one looked on to hit an imposing score in reply.

Robert Harris (1-25 from 7) and Graham Wickes (2-36 off 12) kept the runs to a premium, the latter taking the first two wickets, those of Andrew Barnes, bowled for 9 and Paul Bardo, caught behind by Clark for 10.

Harris dismissed Walpole courtesy of a Rayner catch before Liam Jones (2-40) picked up the wickets of Shin - caught by Dakin - and Belfrage (5) trapped lbw.

Rayner (2-16) took a double-wicket maiden in his first over, bowling Jake Collins (11) and having Patel (0) caught behind before Ben Roper (2-25) wrapped up the innings, Ben Foster (18) again caught behind by Clark and Riley (0) hitting one to Jones as Maldon closed on 181-9.
