Woodbridge v Halstead Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 14 Jul 2018 at 13:00
Halstead Cricket Club Won by 41 runs
Match report
Halstead II - 178-6 - beat Woodbridge and Old Woodbridgians - 139 all out - by 4 wickets
Half-centuries from Mark Johnson and Graham Wickes and a maiden 5-wicket haul from Chris Rayner saw the Second XI home at Woodbridge.
Wickes (50) and Johnson (63) dominated the run scoring as Halstead batted first having won the toss.
The pair both completed half-centuries, though were fortuitous to avoid a calamitous run-out midway through their partnership.
Billy Hamnet t(2-46) dismissed Wickes whilst Johnson fell to William Crookall (3-44), with Justin Rose (16) and Andrew Clark (15) the next highest scorers for Halstead.
Woodbridge got off to a flyer in their reply, but lost both Hammett (16) and Nilantha Herath (40) in quick succession.
Justin Rose (1-33) took the wicket of Herath whilst Hamnett was the first of five scalps for Rayner (5-50).
Only Ryan Scopes (16) also passed double figures for the hosts, with the 30 extras comfortably the next highest scorer as Sam Walter (4-21) and Rayner reduced Woodbridge from 89-2 to 139 all out.
