Match report Halstead - 182-1 - beat Colchester & EE - 180-7 - by 9 wickets

Josh Wells (74*) and Ryan Vickery (59*) led the way in comfortable chase, booking a Final berth for Halstead with a 9-wicket victory over Colchester.

Halstead won the toss and elected to bowl first, but Feroze Ahmed (48) and Charlie Fernandes (71) started quickly for the visitors.

Fernandes was innovative in his innings, playing with conviction as he hit 9 fours and 4 sixes, including a huge maximum onto the scorebox roof, in a breezy 39-ball 71.

Ahmed fired three fours in a King over then accumulated well in a 110-run opening stand until trapped LBW by Josh King (1-50), two runs short of what would have been a deserved half-century.

Fernandes has passed his 50 and continued to attack the Halstead bowling, but miscued a Josh Wells (2-43) delivery to long on where Lewis Brennan eventually took a fine catch on the rope.

Colchester skipper Keir Young (0) departed first ball - caught and bowled by Wells - but Charlie Watts (23) hit 3 fours and a six in a quickfire 23.

Watts edged Joe Morris (1-33) behind to Vickery to leave Colchester 154-4, the visitors would add a further 26 runs in the dying overs, but Lewis Brennan (3-29) ensured wickets still fell at regular intervals.

Andrew Kennedy (8) was caught by a diving Josh King at mid-on whilst Jamie McCarroll (10) and Trevor Edwards (0) were bowled in successive deliveries, leaving Rahul Viswanath (11*) and Chris Cathcart (2*) to see Colchester through to 180-7 from their 20 overs.

Halstead started in similarly brisk fashion, taking 47 from the opening four overs just as Colchester had done, Shorn Bobb (27) hitting 5 fours and a six before hitting Fernandes (1-27) to Jamie McCarroll.

Ryan Vickery (59*) and Josh Wells (74*) then put on 116 in just 56 balls as Halstead cantered home, the pair passing half-centuries as they interspersed some towering blows with orthodox strokeplay and booked their place in the Final.
