Match report Halstead snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in a disappointing 4 wicket loss to their Coggeshall counterparts at Star Stile.

A second unbeaten 100 in three second eleven games for Mark Johnson (103*) and a half-century from skipper Justin Rose (60) set up Halstead for 224-5 from their 45 overs. Ed King (2-35) was the pick of the Coggeshall bowlers, with wickets also for Oliver Such (1-27), Callum Lewis (1-30) and George Blackwell (1-39).

Sam Blackwell (40) and Craig Lesiak (61) got the visitors off to a fine start, but Morgan Whymark (1-46) bowled Blackwell to end the 68-run stand. Lesiak was dropped at slip early on and also survived a close run-out chance, but his patience was rewarded as he brought up his half-century in a match-defining partnership with Andrew Goding (49*).

Chris Roper (3-37) had earlier dismissed Harrison Staines (4) and Ed King (17) before finally, Lesiak departed, David Rawlinson taking a smart catch at short mid-off to give Roper his third scalp in his final over.

Goding and Callum Lewis (23) took the visitors toward victory, but a slight wobble ensued when Lewis was adjudged lbw to Justin Rose (1-37) and George Blackwell fell victim to a stunning one-handed grab from Danny Lynn at point off Callum Hansey (1-38). Jake Manning (4*) joined skipper Goding at the crease and the visitors won it with eight balls to spare.
