Match report Halstead made it three from three as they continue their relegation fight in Division One.

An excellent 60 from Chris Rayner helped set up a chase that despite wobbling, saw Halstead to victory over their local rivals.

Batting first, Coggeshall's Z. McCaskie was the mainstay of the innings, scoring 70 from the number one position. He was supported by Scotland keeper Matthew Cross (24), Australian Sam McLeay (12) and Coggeshall skipper Robert Cross (16).

Josh Wells (3-39) was on a hat trick after dismissing McLeay and Simmons in successive balls, whilst Freddie Statham (2-20) and Charlie Douglas-Hughes (2-22) chipped in with a brace apiece.

Sam Blackwell (20), Fergus Wishart (18*) and George Blackwell (12*)ensured the tail wagged as the visitors posted 184-9 from a reduced 45 overs.

Douglas-Hughes (4) was trapped lbw by Robert Cross early on, but Larvet Masunda and Rayner built a steady partnership, with their running putting the pressure on the visiting fielders.

Masunda was on 30 when he attempted to return for a quick two, but was narrowly out of his ground.

Rayner was joined by Wells and the pair put Halstead in a strong position as the former passed a well-deserved half-century, with Halstead at 135-2.

Another run-out accounted for Rayner to spark a loss of 6 wickets for just 44 runs as Halstead endeavoured to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Wells and Harry Veal (17) offered tame catches off McCaskie and Blackwell, whilst both Ed Clark (11) and Joe Morris (8) were trapped lbw.

Debutant Liam Jones was bowled for 0, leaving David Elsbury and Statham to try and see Halstead home.

Despite some lbw appeals, Elsbury kept his calm in the gathering gloom, driving George Blackwell back past him for the winning boundary.
